This sleek, contemporary seaside villa, between Bantry Bay and Clifton, is a project of Antoni Associates of Cape Town that, as the designers put it, “…epitomizes elegance, luxury, and great outdoor living.” Probably the first thing you’ll notice is the way the outdoors feels like indoors: a full alfresco table and chairs and a full outdoor “living room” are mere steps up from an infinity pool and expansive deck with its own covered lounge area. Interestingly enough, this is only one open-air area of this home: an indoor courtyard leads to the living/dining and kitchen areas that flow, one into another, accented by modern art against white gallery-style walls — and they are also open to the outdoors, a level above ground.
An open wood grain stairway, its finish tying in nicely with the flooring on the lower level, leads to an additional level of bedrooms and more — including a handy work area, with desk and shelving, at one side of a wall of art. Also upstairs, with a balcony effect over the lower floor, is a handy media nook, with flat-screen entertainment center clearly visible from the seating downstairs. Entertaining can be effortless in this home, with its casual atmosphere and multiple areas of visual interest: not only the art, in both painting and sculpture, but a massive “rock garden” effect from massive boulders and trees that seem to come directly out of the edgeless pool. It’s a complete package of indoor/outdoor options, fronted by wonderful views of sea and sky, in yet another exclusive design from Antoni.
