When it’s time to turn a calendar page to a bright new year, what could be better way to celebrate it than a wedding? That’s how this Birmingham, Alabama, couple chose to bring the old year to a close, as shown in these images from Stephen DeVries. You can tell this evening’s going to sparkle, with confetti-strewn invitations and favors, and bridal “bling” of dangling diamond necklace and jeweled shoes. She is elegant in a simple strapless gown, her skirt mermaid-style with a pouf of chiffon at its hem. Her groom shows off the dapper lining in his black tux; his men opt for classic black tie, too, while the maids are in short dresses with prints, spangles, and shine. The dresses share the same silvery color family, but otherwise are as individual as the girls themselves.
The groom is thrilled with the sight of his bride, clutching her creamy rose bouquet…but it’s cold outside, so he doesn’t mind if she takes a few photos with her coat on! As a string quartet plays, the bride comes up an aisle decorated with tall white candles, and the couple is radiant as they process back as man and wife. Then it’s time for the party, with a gorgeous floral-decorated bride’s cake, and a chocolate cake for the groom complete with frosting airplanes! There’s time for funny photos with New Year’s Eve gear and, of course, lots of dancing and noisemakers as befit the occasion. At last, the bride and groom exit under a shower of sparklers and drive away in a sleek white car…a splendid beginning to a fabulous new year and new life together.
