Perfect Holiday Accommodation on Bantry Bay, South Africa

“Perfect Holiday Accommodation” on Bantry Bay South Africa 02

Very few things are a better sight or sound when you’re on vacation/holiday than the sight and sound of the sea — so fortunate, indeed, are the owners of this contemporary apartment, Bantry 301, presented by Antoni Associates . The designers tell us it “combines barefoot luxury and natural materials, providing the owners with the perfect holiday accommodation.” Walls of glass run its length, with discreet blinds that can be pulled down for nightfall or for privacy’s sake, although it’s hard to imagine wanting to screen out the view of Bantry Bay for more than a few hours at a time. Luckily, owners can do almost everything within view of the sea. A casual white alfresco table and chairs with plenty of space for 8 or more catches the sunlight and fresh air through the open plan that merges indoors and out.

A living room space, immediately behind it, is casual and relaxed in style: thickly cushioned chairs, chunky wooden tables, and subtle light from an oval-shaped modern fixture present an unfussy picture that flows seamlessly into a second indoor dining space. This warm walnut table and cream-colored chair cushions provide more seating for guests and romantic lighting from two hurricane lamps. Next to all these areas is a sleek kitchen with space for two or more cooks to hold forth — complete with double ovens and lots of cabinet space. Off the public areas, the bath is wrapped in coral-shaded tile and white, with recessed lights to set a pampering mood. Not everything is sophistication here either: witness the whimsical “on its head” statue in the hallway — a perfect picture of the casual, fun lifestyle these owners enjoy.
