Maggie Sottero has taken something simple and turned it into something elegant and deserving of the opening position in her runway show. Her sheath gowns are unadorned, deriving their beauty from intriguing design exquisite fit. While sheath dresses are notoriously uncomplicated, Maggie Sottero has taken the idea up a notch to create something that keeps the eye wandering in the best possible way. Here is a glimpse of a few sheath dresses, as seen at the Maggie Sottero Fall 2013 Runway Show.
The inspiration for her sheath dresses comes from years past. Ms. Sottero says that this season of dresses, including but not limited to the sheaths, “is a fabulous fusion of yesteryear and modernism embracing an updated Cinderella fantasy befitting every beautiful bride.” The sheath dresses have the classic silhouette of the 20s, form revealing but not quite risqué. The silhouette is elegant without being over the top. The lines of the dress are slightly curved, and there is little in the way of ruffles on top or tulle underneath. The simple design keeps it classic, while the lace overlays, brooch gatherings, and rhinestone necklines bring it into the present. When you wear one of Maggie Sottero’s sheath dresses, you know that your wedding pictures will take on a timeless look. Whether you are browsing through the pages of your memories in one year or forty, you will still look beautiful.
