In the heart of Georgetown is Dumbarton House, a historic house museum that was the site of a splendid wedding day, here pictured by EyeWonder Photography. The bride and groom are surrounded by plenty of family for this occasion; in fact, the “sibling count” comes to a combined total of nine, all part of the wedding party! With Washington, D.C., as a backdrop, the bride and groom get ready at the Melrose Hotel, her in delicate lace, with a nod to a pink cowboy hat and boot set, while her groom is in tan suiting with orange lily boutonniere. In keeping with autumnal colors as the theme, the maids are in brown chiffon, the bride’s mother in shining gold; in the background are changing leaves, the War Memorial and the U.S. Capitol (with some bicyclists touring through!).
Despite a gray day, rain holds off through an intimate outdoor ceremony, although there are a few happy tears shed by family and friends as they cheer the newlyweds. With a few moments’ pause after the vows are said, the couple pauses to absorb the wonder of the day. Then, it’s on to the sumptuous reception in a gorgeous gold room, lit with chandeliers and the bright smiles of guests. Once the music and dancing starts, everyone lets their hair down — and enjoys a spontaneous performance by the bridesmaids with a neat little rap “mashup.” Old and young alike enjoy the fun, in an evening full of music and laughter, until the couple retreat with a few close buddies for a quiet “after-party” at a local wine bar and restaurant. Lots of smiles and great memories all around…from EyeWonder.
