This luxurious residence is under construction on a private Eden Island peninsula in the Seychelles, with its interior design by Antoni Associates of Cape Town. The design aims for an ambience of “island living,” and you can see that touch immediately in the tropical-style wood ceilings. Indoor/outdoor meld is another welcoming feature here: note the open-air feel to the lounge and entertainment center, with its easy access to the terrace. Marble floors blend terrifically with a neutral-toned brown stripe wallpaper around the open kitchen, with its island sink and handy pull-up stools. “Island style” is echoed in a sculptural table behind the couch with legs that almost look like driftwood or “found” lumber; comfy chairs and couches in neutral, easy-on-the-eye colors are a relaxing backdrop to the great view.
The open plan continues throughout the remainder of the villa; lattice-work “doors” lead you to the bath, with a tub beneath a window and twin modern oval sinks in a dark marble vanity. The master bedroom is streamlined and simple, with a bed platform that seems to float above the floor. Dark finishes on walls and ceilings are set off by track lighting outlining moldings, platforms, and counters in ways that both visually expand the spaces and set the right ambience for day or evening. Contemporary art in blues and greens graces the walls — and “art” of another kind is all around the villa, in the form of secluded outdoor living spaces that are perfect refuges from the “grind.” They’re ultra-modern, luxurious, uncluttered, and sophisticated — the Eden Island Villas by Antoni Associates.
