For a wedding with a casual, colorful approach, the Marston House and Inn at the Park, San Diego, serves as a gorgeous backdrop, as you can see in these images from Jackie Wonders Photography. The colors for this wedding are the colors of a sunrise (or sunset): pinks, oranges, peaches…and creamy golden white as a foil. The bride’s gown, of course, is pure white, with just the slightest peek of a slit in the bodice, while her maids wear palest pink trimmed with chiffon and edged in gold. She also wears jewelry of orange and pink, a bracelet and long earrings that bring out the color scheme, as do the flowers she and her maids carry. The groom and ushers are in white — with pink and orange plaid ties! — and are wearing very simple boutonnieres.
There are fun touches all over this ceremony and reception: the groom in tennis shoes, the bride’s heels (and painted toenails!); collages of pink, orange, and white fans, looking like fully opened butterflies landing on a delicate screen, trimming the guests’ place card board and, of course, the cake table. Or maybe we should say the cakes’ table, since there are five cakes in a row, all trimmed with pink and white flowers: no doubt there’s a cake flavor there to suit everyone’s taste. Guest tables are trimmed with a profusion of pink, white, and red flowers — and, of course, orange napkins. Under hanging bouquets and chandeliers, the wedding party dances the night away…and at the end, the bride and groom unfold a simple message to their guests, edged in pink fans — a paper banner that says, “Thank you,” a fitting end to a day of love and laughter.
