Well, technically, the bride isn’t exactly barefoot — she does wear silver sandals — but the mood of this wedding is casual enough that the newlyweds even get in the act on the “kids’” trampoline during the reception, in this lighthearted Birmingham, Alabama, wedding pictured by Stephen DeVries. The bride’s all smiles as her hair is done — or maybe undone! — in an adventurous trip to the hairdresser’s first thing on the big day. After ruffling it up to a “wild child” look, the stylist integrates extensions, brushes it gently over the bride’s shoulder, and all is returned to normal. The bride poses with her favorite canine “attendant”; then it’s time to dress. Her gown is strapless and sequined, beaded and flowing — a confection fit for a queen.
Meanwhile, her groom is getting into his black suit and snow-white vest and tie; the guys “belly up” to a polished wood bar as an unexpected rain shower falls outdoors. After a last hug from Dad, the vows are said, the newly married pair climbs into their waiting limousine, and it’s time to party. Fortunately, the showers have passed, the food is plentiful, and the band is ready to rock (with a notable member of the wedding party on guitar!). Dancing quickly becomes acrobatic when the trampoline lures not just the junior members of the party, but even the bride and groom in their finery — for some pretty spectacular moves. As darkness falls, the happy pair dash beneath a shower of bubbles and blow kisses as they drive off into their future.
