When you encounter a combination of casual style and intelligent use of materials, it makes for a comfortable dwelling, indeed — and that’s what Antoni Associates have planned for ES Roca Lisa 31, which is still under construction in Ibiza, Spain. The designers say they’re aiming to combine “barefoot luxury and family entertainment.” They further elaborate, “Tactile and raw materials, including honed stone and timber, will enhance the natural experience of this villa.” The tactile experience starts at first glance — as you come up the driveway, you’ll see stone in several different applications: paving, façade, and retaining walls for raised beds. A carpet of green extends into the outdoor living space, next to the infinity pool and spa. Other water features grace the rooftop deck, and palms are everywhere — shading the ground floor level, towering through a covered lounge area at one end of the pool and, of course, on the rooftop.
Indoors, the open plan is accented with stone walls, modern art, and clean-lined wood furniture. The living area contains an entertainment center and fireplace, tucked into one stone wall; thick white rugs underfoot keep the floors comfortable on bare toes. A modern hanging “chandelier” of dozens of separate lights graces a dining table, while indirect lighting shows off a driftwood-style bar. More “driftwood” appears in a bedroom suite — also equipped with its own couches and flat-screen television — while beds seem to float above the hardwood floor on low platforms. The experience is both casual and natural — and ES Roca Lisa 31, while a work in progress, looks to have all the ingredients necessary for that “barefoot luxury” the future owners and the designers have in mind.
