Yes, we struggled to believe this wasn’t an actual real-life heart when we first saw the photos. We then struggled with the ultimate question. Is this really a suitable present for Valentine’s Day?
Okay, yes, it’s made of chocolate and you can never go wrong with chocolate on Valentine’s Day, but maybe this is the first time that it would be inappropriate. So, who would be the ideal recipient for such a gift? Maybe a heart surgeon, or a medical student, but someone you love with all your heart seems just a little too tasteless.
Of course, tasteless is the last thing this chocolate heart will actually be as the makers, “The EdibleMuseum”, have listed only the finest Belgian dark, white and milk chocolate, using a combination of the three to create the gruesome-looking heart.
Thinking about it, if it wasn’t for the cost of the heart at £25.00, imagine the fun you could have with young kids who come calling at Halloween demanding “Trick or treat?” when, instead of offering them a traditional candy bar, you showed them a tray with these hearts on them. Chances are they won’t come calling on you again next year!
According to the maker of the heart, Sarah Hardy, it is a replica of a pig’s heart and that while many are being sold, few of them actually get eaten and instead are put on display under a glass dome. Well, it certainly is a conversation piece, that’s for sure.
We had a quick look at The Edible Museum’s website and they have some amazing chocolate gifts that help to explain why the company has the name they have given it, as many of the items for sale would not look out of place in a museum’s display case, such as chocolate fossils and a chocolate human brain!
